Know God, Know Peace

Peace begins inside. It cannot affect the world around us until it has affected us! You cannot give what you do not have! No matter how many votes you get or how much money you have!

Blessings & Peace to you today in Jesus Name!

We are an unhappy people in America. It’s the truth. And, we work very hard to legitimize our feelings. We look for reasons to be grumpy and mad. I find it very prevalent in just about everything I see. And, I am guilty, so I’m not playing some righteous card here. It’s just becoming more and more obvious. We are looking for reasons to lash out and scream mainlogoour opinions on everything from politics to religion, to food to animals to sex to trees to cars to  _____________ (fill in the blank). It’s ridiculous. We have to learn that we can be a people that disagrees without anger. And, that only comes from within. That only comes from having real peace within us.

This is a true story. I witnessed it just a short time ago. It’s very much exactly what I am trying to say and helped to open my eyes:

“A friend was wanting milk. They opened the fridge to find only lactose free milk. The person whose milk that it belong to freely offered it to them. This person said no, “It doesn’t taste the same.” The owner went on to explain that there is no taste difference, but the person wanting the milk made a bit of a scene by declaring that it was too sweet. And to prove their point, they took the milk out, looked at the label and said, “See it has 12 grams of sugar. It’s not the same.”

“After creating a big fuss (because they wanted the other person to go get the milk from the store) this person finally conceded that if they wanted different milk, they were going to get it themselves. Which, after much attitude projection, did so. Upon returning with the infamous milk, the person on the receiving end of all the garbage (for lack of a better word) checked and found the incoming milk had exactly the same amount of sugar.”

So, what’s the point? Is this even worth talking about? Maybe not, but you understand that this same thing goes on all across America at varying degrees of heat. Some of these arguments are like this one, almost comical. Some are costing the lives of our kids, our police officers and various members of our society. Making the world see our “point” has become very dangerous.

I will never forget the first time I heard of someone who took another persons life over something so “frivolous.” It was in the Los Angeles area. I don’t remember the exact details, but, in essence, a man saw  that another man had the same car with the same paint job. So he shot and killed him. Frivolous reason, dire results. That was many years ago, but it has only escalated. It is only getting worse. Why?

We are angry for many reasons. And they all have the same thing in common: No peace. Nothing within us that over rules the desire to lash out and force our opinion on an unsuspecting world regardless of the circumstances.

A little girl decides the hurt and pain in her life is too much. So, unfortunately, she decides logo_bg-sharingto end it all. And not just to end it, but to make sure the world sees her anger and terror by streaming it live on Facebook. It devastates the world around her. The saddest thing to come along so far in 2017. No peace.

There’s an old saying that used to be on bumper stickers and posters. It goes:

“Know God, Know Peace
No God, No Peace”

I realize it might be an old, passe point, but it remains a very iconic statement as much for today as back when it was first penned. Our pain, our sorrow, our anger, our need to be recognized (that 15 minutes of fame at any cost), our desire to have the world without any strings attached, these things are destroying us. Nothing can replace peace in us. No object, no person, no house, no amount of fame.

Peace in us will bring peace to the world around us. We wonder why there is no peace in America. No peace with our neighbors. No peace between countries, between leadership. Peace begins inside. It cannot affect the world around us until it has affected us! You cannot give what you do not have! No matter how many votes you get or how much money you have!

And, the greatest source is not anything originating from man. It is God, the Architect of Peace! A little more on the subject…

I love to write. I write books, blogs, articles. Mostly about God and His amazing blessings. Sometimes about other things. But mostly about God. I have a fixation on comma. Please forgive me if you see too many of them.
