In The Right Hands

Be The Instrument That God Uses However He Chooses!

Good Saturday afternoonto you!!!

What would you do with a shovel? I mean, what is the purpose of a shovel? To dig a hole, to move substance. It’s just a tool, right? What if I told you that, no, it’s not just a tool?

If you know me, you know I love music. All kinds. And I play a little myself. Very little. I’m not overly accomplished on it. But I absolutely love guitar music. And I appreciate talent.

A friend posted a video on Facebook. A man named Justin Johnson had taken a shovel and made it into an electric 3 string guitar. Click here for the link to the video. You may not like the southern boy style of his playing, but you have to appreciate the talent. I have actually had some lessons in playing this way. Very tricky and I never really got it. But I love it!

Here’s my point: He is making this amazing sound with a shovel. Remember, the shovel? That thing we use for digging holes…the tool? The tool that is now being used to make amazing music? You with me?

Maybe you feel like you’re just a tool in the tool box of the Kingdom. You are good at one thing. Maybe two. We do that. We say, “I’m good at hammering nails. That’s what I do for the Kingdom.” Is it? I have experienced that before. I’m good at this, so that’s what I do.

Wrong. Like the master guitar player with the shovel, we can do anything when we let God take the reigns. He can make us into something new and incredible if we let Him.

Accountants can become worship leaders. Construction workers can preach. Bus drivers can be missionaries. Or, even something greater, we can become instruments that show our co-workers the light of Christ.

And God doesn’t limit it to the “visible” Kingdom. He can take men and women who seem to be in simple places and make them kings of industry. Raise them up into high places where the world sees them and admires who they are and what they’ve accomplished. All the while, being a leader for God. And, just in case you’re not sure, leaders for Christ are not always Pastors and Bishops!

Be the instrument that God uses however he chooses!

I love to write. I write books, blogs, articles. Mostly about God and His amazing blessings. Sometimes about other things. But mostly about God. I have a fixation on comma. Please forgive me if you see too many of them.
