The Ites

The Ites Have It!

Good Morning! I have literally been on hold for about an hour an a half this morning. Government call. Anyway, while I waited I have been reading my Bible in Exodus and came across this passage. It’s not the only place that speaks these people, but it kinda hit me there’s a lot of “ites” in the Old Testament. So, we’ll talk a bit about them.

A quick note before we get too far into today’s blog. One of the reasons I haven’t posted too much lately is that I am writing a book for someone else full time. Click here to visit the website and you can connect via Facebook and Twitter for it from there. Take a moment to check it out, it’s going to be a very powerful biography!

Okay, Exodus 34:11 says, “ Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I am driving out from before you the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.”

It was dangerous to be an ite when the Children of Israel were coming through. Can you imagine? People of the ites were discussing  it. The Jebs, the Amors. The guys from Canaan. And the whole bunch. Just picture a young man as he grows up to find he is of the Hive people? Haha…

It’s kinda funny. The Bible is a book of wonder and mystery. Many historical books are that way. Because “we weren’t there.” Some times it’s hard to grasp. Of course, this was not the limit of the ites. They extended all over. And even the Children of Israel’s own tribes were often referred to in this sense. In fact, we still use similar terms today.

We are from America, so we are called Americans. People from Great Britain are called British. Russians get the name because they are from Russia. Did you know that if you are from Venus, you are called a Vegan? Yeah, who knew they were from outer space all this time? Haha…don’t get mad. I’m just kidding. Daniel was a vegan. Well, he ate a lot of beans. Does that make him a beanite? Maybe…

Have a marvelous day! Hahaha… I am still on hold!

I love to write. I write books, blogs, articles. Mostly about God and His amazing blessings. Sometimes about other things. But mostly about God. I have a fixation on comma. Please forgive me if you see too many of them.

  1. Someday we will rid ourselves of our labels and look not at the differences between us, but look instead at our similarities. We will see our selves as children of a loving Heavenly Father. In that day contentions will diminish and love will reign.
    4 Nephi 1:17
There were no robbers, nor murderers, neither were there Lamanites, nor any manner of -ites; but they were in one, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God.
