Good blessed Sunday to you!
Who is your influence? What is it that you are putting in your life?
Sometime early in the morning, the sun (which always shines, 24/7) begins to rise up. Actually, that’s not true. The sun doesn’t move and doesn’t change. Kind of like God. He’s always the same. The sun begins to appear as the Earth rotates.
The influence of the sun changes everything. Think about that. We long for the morning. Can you imagine how life would be without the sunrise? Not only would life cease to exist, but in the mean time, as we all waited to die off, life would be miserable. The sun’s influence is life giving.
Godly influence is like that. It brings life. And the darkness is pushed aside. The sun influences the planet like God influences us. Much of that influence radiates from the people we surround ourselves with.
There are two kinds of influence in our lives. That which we receive and that which we give. We get spiritual influences and physical influences. We give spiritual influences and we give physical influences. The choices of which and how are up to us.
When we spend time with God, we are influenced by Him. When we refuse His influence, we are affected by evil spiritual influences. Yeah, sorry, Jesus said we are with Him or against Him.
When we surround ourselves with people of God, they have influence on us. When we surround ourselves with ungodly people, they have influence on us.
However, we can learn to be an influence on others as well. The best way to change your environment, to affect others is to be prayed up and and studied up. Pray and read. How simple is that?
It’s okay to be the one being influenced as long as its the right kind of influence. How much more awesome is it though to be the one influencing others for the Kingdom?
We don’t always realize the influences on our lives. Did you know the TV is one of the greatest influences on us that there is? It’s true. It can mold us and change us. It can decide for us. So does the internet. These things are not bad. Those influences can be good, but it’s better that we think for ourselves. It’s better to allow godly influence on us first and most of all.
Everyone has influence, both outward and inward. Who we spend our time with will always determine what kind.
