Are the Actions of a Football Player Important to the Kingdom?

Blessings to you today! Get your coffeethe-biggest-winner-in-the-49ers-hiring-of-chip-kelly-will-be-colin-kaepernick and lets discuss things…

I am going to go where I may not ought to go. This blog will ultimately always be about the love of God. But I want to bring in a few current events and how they affect the Christian. Bear with me, I’m not actually in new waters on the subject, but I am with this particular blog.

Now, I get very few comments and very few remarks. Very few likes and no dislikes. So, I leave it up to you, the reader to tell me if you feel that it’s going the wrong direction. Given, I first listen to the Lord. And, this is will never be the focus. I’m not interested in being a “shock” journalist for Jesus!

I want to address the controversy surrounding the actions of a certain National Football League Quarterback. Of course you know I speak of Colin Kaeperkick of the San Francisco 49ers. One of the reasons this has bothered me so much is that fact that I am a life long fan of this team. And I’m not going into his value as a player. I want to write about his actions. His refusal to honor the American Anthem & Flag.

Someone said that this issue has no “Kingdom or Eternal value.” That we should not allow it to have such great reign in our lives. To a point, that is correct. But not entirely. It’s also been pointed out that recently he converted to Islam. I’m not entirely certain on those facts. But that’s not the point either.

I said on a facebook post I made shortly before I began this blog that it has been made into something big and that’s exactly what he wanted. Publicity. So, we need to find other things to talk about. This coming on the heels of that probably seems hypocritical, but read on please.

The world, most importantly, our children, watch football players like a hawk. All sports figures are role models whether they want to be or not. Our kids are watching. They see the multi-million dollar man dis-respect the flag and call America racist. We know America is not perfect, but it has proven that, for the majority, we are still a good country. Not a perfect one, but racism is nothing like it was. We have come a long way. Yes, again, we need to improve in all areas still….blah, blah, blah.

As our kids learn to disrespect things like the National Anthem and the Flag, they will learn to disrespect other things. Yes friends, that’s how that works. Other things like what their parents tell them to do. Like what school tells them to do. Like what the law says to do. We are already encumbered with a very heavy load from the generation that thinks the world owes them everything. Issues such as this will simply add to an already scary problem. And that is Kingdom related!

Pray for our kids. Pray for grand standers like Kap to rethink the firestorms they help light.

I love to write. I write books, blogs, articles. Mostly about God and His amazing blessings. Sometimes about other things. But mostly about God. I have a fixation on comma. Please forgive me if you see too many of them.
